In previous article the author describes the numerous dermatological reaction patterns that encompass sensitive skin. In this time the tests to identify this kind of skin are described.

Conclusão
Um dos temas que emergem da discussão sobre a pele sensível é a tremenda variabilidade na manifestação desse tipo de pele, fato que dificulta o desenvolvimento de cosméticos e de produtos skin care. Os testes de pré-lançamento são essenciais para garantir que os produtos desenvolvidos para este publico atinjam as expectativas.1
Essa necessidade resultou no desenvolvimento de uma grande diversidade de protocolos de testes, objetivando selecionar painéis de voluntários com pele sensível com finalidade de avaliar, bem como quantificar respostas não visuais e reforçar dados do observador. Além disso, podem ser necessários testes in vitro para comprovar a irritação, antes da avaliação in vivo. O número de voluntários necessários para tal teste é um tanto controvertido. No geral, devido à importância dos dados gerados por testes humanos, precisaríamos de um mínimo de 40 voluntários submetendo-se a avaliação, para conseguir dados que tenham possibilidade de mostrar significância estatística. Se as alterações induzidas por determinado cosmético ou produto skin care forem pequenas, então, o número de voluntários precisa ser maior. Por exemplo, quando o teste e realizado para determinar se um novo ingrediente no mercado é adequado para publico com pele sensível, seriam necessários cerca de 200 voluntários para garantir o apelo publicitário de produto hipoalergênico.
