Os filtros solares perdem grande parte de sua capacidade fotoprotetora após exposição à radiação UV. Portanto, é necessário avaliar a integridade molecular destas substâncias, a garantia de sua eficácia e a segurança dos consumidores.
To guarantee constant efficacy, the sunscreens should not be altered by sunlight exposure. Commercial sunscreen formulations lose a large part of their photoprotection capacity after exposure to the UV radiation, thus is needed to assess the molecular integrity of these agents, ensuring their efficacy and safety of consumers.
Los filtros solares pierden gran parte de su capacidad fotoprotectora después de la exposición a la radiación UV. Por lo tanto, es necesario evaluar la integridad molecular de estas sustancias, la garantía de su eficacia y la seguridad de los consumidores.

O sol é essencial para a vida terrestre, sendo seus efeitos sobre a saúde humana dependentes da sensibilidade individual da pele exposta, da intensidade da radiação ultravioleta (UV), da frequência e do tempo de exposição. Esses fatores são determinados pela localização geográfica, estação do ano, período do dia e condições climáticas.1-3
O tratamento da icterícia e de outras doenças com o uso da fototerapia, a sensação de bem-estar físico e a participação na síntese da vitamina D, são alguns dos efeitos benéficos provenientes de uma exposição cautelosa ao sol.2,4 Entretanto, a radiação solar pode ser extremamente prejudicial ao organismo humano, especialmente em condições de exposições repetidas, caso não se tome os devidos cuidados quanto à dose de radiação recebida. A exposição crônica à radiação UV solar está associada a múltiplos efeitos nocivos, incluindo queimaduras cutâneas, fotoenvelhecimento, catarata, supressão imunológica e câncer de pele,5-11 o que aumenta a necessidade do uso de fotoprotetores que garantam uma adequada proteção frente a esses indesejáveis efeitos dos raios UV.
